This Saturday (22 September), Bristol Bears will play Harlequins at Ashton Gate. What is slightly unusual about this Gallagher Premiership match is that the Nailsea & Backwell Junior Section will be playing an important part in the match day entertainment!
Representatives of the junior Ravens will be attending the match en mass. Nearly 280 parents and children from the N&B junior section will be attending the match. As part of this visit the children will:
- Form the Guard of Honour for the players as they run onto the pitch at the start of the match and at the start of the second half.
- Provide pitchside flag bearing / waving at the start of each half.
- Undertake a parade around the pitch at half time.
This is great opportunity for the children of the N&B Junior Section. There are c.300 children playing junior rugby at Nailsea & Backwell, and around 150 will be attending the game at Ashton Gate on Saturday. Trips like this really help to build the childrens interest in the game and shows the link between grass roots and elite rugby encouraging the childrens development within the game.
If your child is interested in joining the clubs thriving Junior section, which includes full representation for girls rugby, please check out the 'Contacts' page within this website.
And with regard to the Junior Sections trip to Ashton Gate on Saturday.... give the kids a cheer if you see them in the ground!
Come on Bris.... Up the Ravens!
