In truly wintery conditions, the N&B Under 9’s produced a warming performance in only their second match of contact rugby against Hornets in Weston-Super-Mare. The coaching team had been working hard with the young Ravens on developing their confidence in the tackle situation and improving discipline in their line defence and this extra focus really shone through in this latest match.
In the first two matches, N&B’s aggressive defence resulted in multiple turnovers which resulted in a flurry of excellent tries being scored. This, combined with tight defence which restricted the Hornets chances, had the travelling supporters smiling in the heavy rain!
In games three and four, Nailsea & Backwell were well on top in one game, with the other being a much tighter affair. Unfortunate injuries to three of the young Ravens depleted numbers, but effort, skill and determination kept them competitive in an excellent match.
Overall, it was a fabulous performance from this talented team. Feedback from the Hornets coaches and spectators was complimentary following the matches. These young Ravens really did their club proud!
