Nailsea and Backwell travelled to Wells to contest the Quarter Final of the Somerset Cup.
The two sides met at the end of last year where Wells came out the eventual winners leaving the Nailsea boys feeling they had a point to prove. The unwavering hard work and effort put in by the Nailsea Forwards saw them dominate the scrums and set pieces meaning clean quick ball was distributed to the talented back line.
A strong attacking line from Jay Wood saw him out run the Wells defence and opened the scoring for Nailsea.
More ball secured by the in form forwards saw Harry Blackburn’s last minute off load to James Stevens seal Nailsea’s second try, which Blackburn duly converted.
Number 8, Harry Tiernan, had another superb game in attack and defence and was rewarded with Nailsea’s third try, which was converted by Sam Chidzey.
All credit to Wells who never gave up and from a determined forward centred attack they crashed over the Nailsea line for their only try of the game.
Nailsea had the last word though. Precision passing from the Nailsea backline saw Blackburn cross for Nailsea’s final score of the day.
Nailsea now progress to the semi finals in the Somerset Cup and await news of their opponents.
