Nailsea & Backwell visited Old Reds for the first time coming against one of their most physical opponents to date and matched them player to player.
Nailsea opened the scoring with a well-rehearsed back move which saw Josef J finish over the line. The Nailsea forwards turned over their first of many rucks with Josef beating Old Red’s tight defending to score Nailsea’s second try, converted by Sam C.
Old Reds capitalised on a rare error from Nailsea defence which meant they were able to claw back a try .
Nailsea and Old Reds then scored a try each which saw each team dig deep in an effort to come out on top.
The victory was sealed For N&B with Josepf’s hat trick by beating a number of Old Reds defenders to score in the corner.
This was an impressive whole team performance but special mention must go to an outstanding performance from Josef and relentless tackling and ball carrying from Abe and Cam.
