Nailsea & Backwell III’s 26 - 22 Imperial II’s
The first game of an historic double header day against Imperial saw N&B III’s start the proceedings with a home fixture in their league campaign.
Playing up the slope in the first half, Nailsea put in an incredible display of defence against Imps, a visibly larger size team who used their physical weight advantage to pin Nailsea in their 22 for extended periods of the first half. However, their resolute defence kept the score limited to a redeemable 10 - 0 in favour of Imperial.
To the watching crowd, clearly at the turn around at half time, Nailsea would look to exploit their obvious pace advantage going down the slope against a tiring set of Imperial forwards. This however proved more difficult than it would appear, as the replacements from Imperial added some additional pace to their side which proved difficult to contain.
Nailsea did however stick to their game plan with the forward pack battling valiantly to get possession and sending the ball wide through the backs, scoring four superb tries to finish the game as well deserved winners.
This results has put the N&B Third team top of their league, and as yet undefeated in the league this season. Part one of ‘The Imperial Job’ successfully completed!
