Nailsea & Backwell II's 98 – 0 Winscombe II's
On a day suited to running rugby Nailsea didn’t disappoint!
First to cross the try-line was Matt Thorn who after a good take from Askew, and rolling back the years ran in from the Half-Way mark to finish under the posts.
With five minutes on the clock, Flanker, Harrison Gould, ran in the first of his two tries - down the wing and under the sticks. His dancing feet replicated this from the restart and Nailsea were 21 - 0 up.
The home side, defending up the slope, were able to clear their lines with Wing, Corey Dougal, ensuring the bonus point was achieved. From the re-start, Alfie Wild gathered and ran half the field before offloading to Tom Fletcher who went over out wide. Corey Dougal, in conjunction with Full Back, Sam Bigley, got his second to make it 36 - 0.
Just when it looked like Winscombe might get over the whitewash, they were penalised for not releasing enabling N&B to clear their 22. Finally, Stitch finished the half where he started it by weaving his way past three defenders like a ballroom dancer to give the home side a healthy Half-Time lead.
Greg Appleby was next to score and playing with the slope it became one way traffic. Carl Broaders, who had made some bulldozing runs into the visiting defenders, then scored his own try. With Nailsea players queuing, their eagerness led to a number of forward passes.
Lock Leo Delazzari crashed over from five yards out, before Appleby got his second following a break by Townsend from the Ravens own 22.
Broaders then converted his second try after slick ball through forwards and backs. Matt Thorn then ran nearly half the field downhill before unselfishly passing to Askew to go over.
Second Row, Ben Morris, then got on the score sheet before Dougal finished off to make it 98-0.
A younger, fitter Nailsea side were to be Winscombe’s undoing, but they never let their heads drop.
