Club Statement from Club President, Paul Henley.

After seven years as President of Nailsea & Backwell RFC, this year I will be standing down from this position. I have to say that I could not be ‘going out’ on a higher high!

The club has experienced the most amazing season on and off the field, the pinnacle of which has been the success of our First XV in winning the Somerset Premier Division and Bristol Combination Vase in the same season. This represents the most successful season in the Club’s history.

The coaching team and players will quite rightly receive huge plaudits for all that has been achieved, but I would like to take a minute to say a huge thank you to the army of people behind the scenes who contribute to this success on the pitch. This includes the club’s incredible sponsors whom we appreciate massively; Nailsea Physio, for keeping the players healthy and on the pitch; all the volunteers who contribute to the running of the club; and finally, the supporters who attend our matches week in and week out.

Finally, a sincere thank you to the Club Committee. I will be passing my seat on this Committee to another during the Summer, but I know they will be amazed by the dedication and hard work of this group of people.

The club’s 50th Anniversary Year has already been momentous. I look forward to the rest of 2022 with anticipation.

Thank you all.
