Burnham On Sea Rfc 37 - 28 Nailsea & Backwell RFC

Another game of two halves for the Ravens as they started this old rivalry fixture that looked in danger to be called off, but luckily the pitch thawed in time for kick off.

The Ravens, by their own admission, endured a miserable first half performance. The defence looking disconnected and porous as Burnham ran through every gap the Nailsea defence presented.

By the time Luke Sharp's side got to grips with the game they were already 17-0 down!

But the Ravens eventually got going. Harry Radford touched down from a good maul and with Alex Jones adding the conversion.

From missed touch to short kick off’s, Nailsea kept giving Burnham ways back into the game and they took every chance as Skipper, Ross McKechan, scored their bonus point try before half time.

After half-time the Ravens got their act together and started to piece together some nice rugby. Charlie Bircham-Davies scoring from good back play and when Harry Radford scored his second and Alex Jones converted the score was suddenly 24-21.

Burnham kicked a penalty but were wobbling and all the momentum was with the Ravens when Man of the Match, Radford, got his hat-trick! Jones converted the Ravens found themselves 27-28 up, which was extraordinary considering their start.

With 10 to go the Ravens revisited their first half error count and after a missed touch from penalty, Burnham stalwart Tim Piper scored the winning try.

The Ravens entertain high flying Longlevens Rugby at home next week.
